Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Flint Hills Tallgrass Prairie, Camp Wood of Elmdale, Kansas houses the location of The Preston Outdoor Education Station. The Design+Make studio has been working with YMCA's Camp Wood to develop a pavilion that instills a deeper meaning and education for visitors of the prairie. The project has since evolved into an orientation station with various educational platforms that alert and direct the visitors of Camp Wood to the finer details of the Tallgrass Prairie. The Education Station consists of a gathering space that provides shade and seating for visitors and a connecting pathway to the remaining five stations. These stations provide infrastructure to experience the subtleties of the landscape and influence the education and preservation of our grasslands.
